Martha’s Vineyard

Last weekend I had a very delightful time on the isle of Martha’s Vineyard with a gaggle of some of my favorite girls. Despite a minor setback with an alcohol/ food poisoning incident (don’t ask) it was the stuff that summer getaways are made of. On the foggy days we poked around the local shops and collected veggies at the farmers market. At night we took showers in the outdoors, cooked dinner as a group and danced until the wee hours at the local watering hole. When the sun finally peeked out, everyone went scrambling for their swimsuits and headed to the beach. There’s just something about that island where the the peaches seem more flavorful, the gardens more lush, the air is fresher… and the weekend is never long enough.

Peonies

Peonies

I was just thinking how excited I am to get a big bunch of peonies, now that its spring and all (well according to tomorrows forecast only).  Then I happened on this lovely blog Peonies and Polaroids. Two of my favorite things! Just goes to show you that if you like something, somebody somewhere has probably dedicated an entire blog to it. Case in point, my fave twitter pal: Wierd News.

Saipua Arrangements

Saipua bouquet

I was kicking myself when I realized I forgot to put any flower arrangements on my Valentines Day guide. But then I realized there isn’t really any acceptable places to buy flowers that are only one click away. I could not, in good conscience, send anyone to 800 flowers or similar chain place.  I mean, don’t get me wrong. I love a big bunch of roses as much as the next girl but stray into one of their more “creative” bouquets and you could end up with an icky carnation in the mix. Not the case with one of my favorite local flower shops Saipua. I should mention when I say “favorite,” I have never bought or received flowers from this place, but they are featured on Design Sponge quite a bit and I like to ogle their blog. So, Brooklyn-based boyfriends take note, get thee to Red Hook, and give a bunch of posies that show off how original and artsy you truly are. Nary a cursed carnation in sight!
