The Inspired Room

Using embroidery hoops for wall decor: quirky, cost effective and oh so hot right now.

I’m kind of impatient when it comes to crafts, so I don’t think actual embroidery is for me. Yesterday I was working on my napkins for Thanksgiving (I’ll share the whole process very soon!) and I was sewing so fast my machine sounded like it was going to take flight. Needless to say my hems are more than sorta crooked, they would make my Home-Ec teacher hang her head in shame. Ah well.

Amelie’s bedroom

Amelie's bedroom

This is one of my favorite movies. I think the majority of what I like about it is the production design. I’ve often daydreamed about dousing my apartment in the warm red color scheme but then I realize it wouldn’t really be the same without the careful lighting of a film set. I think the feeling of Paris streets waiting outside your doorstep and having Audrey Tatou as a cute french inhabitant helps too. I also love silly pictures of animals wearing jewelry and was happy to see the artist of the ones in the film, Michael Sowa now has prints for sale online. Though it would be hard to not expect them to burst out talking every now and again like they do in the film.

So tell me readers: how many  quirky pictures of animals can you have in your apartment before it crosses the line from offbeat to creepy? 4? These are things I need to know because I already have one of a dog wearing diamonds and am kinda in love with these.
